i'd say definitely work with a pencil a lot because drawing will better overall and you'll be glad you started drawing going into animation. I use Anime studio which is a different and cheaper program but it's vector based so idk if you'd enjoy that, but it's worth looking at. there's also stencyl for beginner game coders if you wanna start but don't where to start (and that's free)

Well, I mean the program called Pencil. Anime Studio is a thing I have to buy. I'll stick with Pencil for now.
